Making sure your suit fits right and your shoes match

Out of the 400+ couples I have married over the last few years I reckon about 50% of the guys had a suit that fitted correctly and also matched in well with their shoes. Yes, that’s right, about 50%.

So fellas, I’ve done all the heavy lifting for you here and found two guides that will let you know how you’re doing in that space.

Mens suit fit and matching shoes

Firstly, let’s have a look at how your suit should fit. I’ve even been guilty of some of these crimes over the years. Suit sleeves too long, jackets too tight, pants too long. Once you get a suit that fits you like a glove (in all the right places), you’ll never go back to your old ways. And guys, just because you’ve never had a suit, doesn’t mean that you need to go and get the first one that fits. Invest in a suit in a colour (blue or black usually) that you will be able to wear throughout the rest of your life (while you remain the same size anyway). It’s worth the investment to be able to look a million bucks not only on your wedding day, but for any occasion you choose throughout the rest of your life.

So, here’s what you should be looking for. Don’t compromise is any of the areas below. Not a single one.

The best thing to do is to go and get fitted properly for a good suit. Once you have done this, keep the measurements in Notes on your phone for future use so that you never buy a crappy fitting suit ever again.

Now that your suit is covered, don’t f&@k it up with mis-matched shoes. Once again make the investment to buy a good pair of shoes that you can wear with that suit throughout your life. Here’s your guide.

So, as you can see, there are many ways tell your loved one how special they are in your life and how you intend to love and protect them over the years. My only advice is to “make them your own” and to have some fun with them. It’s a special moment that should reflect your personality.

You’re welcome!
